Sauble Beach in the tourism region: Bruce Peninsula, Southern Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe
Little Sauble Beach is well know because of the 11 km long sandy beach on the western shores of Lake Huron. The water is warm in summer because the lake is very shallow here.
I was surprised to learn that it is the second longest freshwater beach in the world. The longest one is also in Ontario. You only have to travel to Wasaga Beach which is not too far away.
Sauble Beach is the perfect place for everybody who loves outdoor activities. Not only in summer but also during winter.
Unfortunately all our own pictures got lost when our computer was stolen.
Many thanks to all the donors of images!
Here you will find a Canadian center for sandcastles, but not in October when we came..
Not far away in the south you will find Southampton und Port Elgin.

As with all of Lake Huron's shoreline, if the weather is right, you can expect spectacular sunsets.
Parking spots on the beach are available. One of them even allows you to park your car on the beach. This is certainly good for me with my walking disability.
On the other hand, ti left very quickly on Lake Erie, where in many cars the "ghetto blasters" were turned up to full volume. When we were in Sauble Beach there were almost no cars on the beach and no noise. It was October!
I was told that parking in the high season is not cheap. This seems to be as bad as Niagara Falls..

Do not forget to pay a visit to the "Sauble Falls Provincial Park", Take your bathing clothes with you, eventually you will be encouraged by the many young people to have fun in the water falls as well.
Diese Fälle sind eine kleine Herausforderung - vielen Dank für das Bild
Southampton was established about 150 year ago as a trade and fishing center. It was named after the English town.
Today our Southampton is together with Port Elgin and Saugeen a part of the administrative collectivity "Saugeen Shores".
Many retired people live here.
I think they had good reasons to select Southampton on Lake Huron to spend their "golden years".
We loved this place and decided to come back what we never could do.

It all depends on what you love, how old you are, etc. I prefer now quiet places surrounded by nature. I was always excited when we rented a cottage in a smaller facility, where I was only harassed by hungry chipmunks.
