Wasaga Beach and surroundings - many thanks to MapArt

We have visited the area around the Georgian Bay several times. Our first trip was for business reasons and we had bad luck with the weather - it was early spring. Still we had a good time and decided to come back. We learned that Wasaga Beach claims to have the longest sandy freshwater beach. It is 14 km long.
On a long weekend we left Welland to enjoy the water and the beach. We did not book an accommodation in advance. We were confident to find something but we took our small tent with us.
When we arrived we learned very fast that we had made a mistake - not even camping was possible. So we could not stay and started searching for an accommodation.
Finally we found in Penetanguishene a nice lady who allowed us to put up our tent in her backyard.

Wasaga Beach - many thanks for the picture!

As you can see the beach is mainly located on a headland.

I have watched a few Canadian movies which were filmed in Wasaga Beach. I do not have any intentions to see them again. But we would love to stay a few days in Wasaga Beach as long as it is not overcrowded.
Fortunately this town offers something in any season and there is so much to see and visit in this area. For us the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park will be certainly such an attraction even when the water is to cold for swimming.
