Explore Waging am See Traunstein Region, Upper Bavaria Germany Tourism, Travel Guide
The "Waginger See" (Lake Waging) is one of the warmest lakes in all Bavaria.
Since neither of us are taking part in "Polar Bear Swims" and being April when we came through this area, we suppressed our urge to demonstrate how tough a Canadian and a landed Canadian can be. By mutual agreement we decided to return to this resort-like area when the weather was more to our liking.
So Elizabeth decided that we should come back as soon as the water temperature has reached the promised +28°C.
Waging am See
At this time wind surfing was extremely popular in Upper Bavaria. Elizabeth was not any longer surprised to see them under almost all weather conditions on the lakes.
We also discovered hikers who enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the clean air.
So Elizabeth decided that we should come back as soon as the water temperature has reached the promised +28°C. She said we should rent a boat to explore the shoreline to see the birds which were hiding there.

She told me that she doesn't mind murky water because she had read that this is supposedly healthy and that some people actually fork out good money to immerse themselves in a special mud that has been successful in the treatment of many diseases.
No wonder female mud wrestlers are so pleasing to the eyes of some people.

We missed our chance to return in this same year and in late fall we both had to return to Canada.
Seeing above pictures the lake even does not look murky and we both feel very sorry, that we never came back in high season. We took everything as granted and now it would be a very long trip to Waging.

There is no problem finding suitable accommodation in Waging and you can indulge in a wide variety of sporting activities for all ages.
For the culturally minded there is the "Bajuwarenmuseum" (can you pronounce that? My dear partner couldn't and still can't). The museum shows artifacts from 500 AD. to 700 AD.
Bird watchers should visit the "Vogelmuseum" - they may discover something new.
I am born to eat which is no big surprise to my readers and one of my favorites is good cheese. Some of it is made right here in Waging by the "Bergader Privatkäserei GmbH.". Please do not miss the opportunity to sample some of their specialty cheeses. Use the internet to find their English web site!
Occasionally I can by their "Bavarian Blue" even in Welland. They should have a subsidiary here in Canada.
It always amazes me that right here in Canada you can find excellent wine, good beer, healthy bread but most of the god cheeses are imported or come from Quebec.
I want more than the good Cheddar and the almost "tasteless rubbery stuff". The last little blurb about the cheese "rubbery stuff" is my own personal description.
