Coat of arms Straubing region

Map of the Straubing-Bogen Region:

Have you ever vacationed on a farm? You can do this all over in Germany. Why not start with a test in the Straubing-Bogen Region? The only problem - you must normally commit yourself for a longer stay. It is called "Ferien auf dem Bauernhof".
I did this a couple of times many years ago and we always enjoyed it - even when all our cloths had a strange smell after that.
All meals were provided and we eat together with the family. It is very popular for families with little children

Naturally we did lots of sightseeing by car. When Elizabeth discovered animals or something which raised her interest I had to stop which is sometimes not easy. She talked to the animals and patted them and I took pictures - which are gone because of our stolen computer.
In the little town Geiselhöring a very unusual historical building animates us to a little break- the "Loichingerhaus".

We liked to travel leisurely through this typical Bavarian country side.
It is not an attraction for mass tourism but for people who want to stay away from "buzzing" places with high priced tourist attractions but enjoy thinks like hiking, fishing, swimming and relaxing.
We had always good meals with local brewed beer like in Schwarzach and Elizabeth tried to improve her Bavarian language skills when we shared our table with other people.
It is your choice whether you want to be in the fertile, mainly agricultural part close to the Danube or in the mountains of the Bavarian Forest. Accommodation is available everywhere in the heart of Lower Bavaria.
You can be active here in any season if you want to. Select from any outdoor activity or you keep yourself busy by sightseeing, going to concerts, local festivities or researching the history of the Romans which ruled the county a very long time ago.
