Simbach is over 1000 years old but it is still young.
Whenever I was there I discovered something new. However, I have to admit that I have borrowed the pictures used in this site. I did not take any pictures because at that time I had no plans to write a travel guide for Lower Bavaria and those which I took when I came back with Elizabeth got lost with my stolen computer. Many thanks to all the people who helped me!
Don't think that these outfits are only worn for a festival or a parade, you still can see, even young people, wearing them during daily life.
As the name already indicates Simbach is located on the river Inn which forms the border to Austria.
I have been also in Braunau but not Elizabeth. I was there many years ago but not to see the place where Adolf Hitler was born. It was just for sightseeing.
The sculpture below is not dedicated to an US made movie. It shows the largest predatory fish (a Huchen) which lives in the river Inn with a man riding on it. Aenus is the Latin word for Inn. (thanks to Wikipedia and others) |
