I dragged my son to this place and we enjoyed a delicious snack in the garden restaurant. A snack consists for me most the time of a nice bowl of ice cream with fruits and eventually some liqueur.
We watched workers erecting a tend for a big wedding party. Being able to have such a wedding is certainly a live long memory of this great day.

This beautiful fairy tale castle is really worth a visit - even when you only come for a snack or a delicious meal and sightseeing.
The prices seemed to be very fair, especially when you know how much certain B & B places charge in North America when they only offer some antique furnishing!

I think it is a very romantic place to stay for a few days to explore the surroundings. But be prepared you may have to climb some stairs! Not every room can be reached by an elevator. Elizabeth never got tired to explore places like Schmalkalden. Just visit our web site to see what she discovered. Even a skeleton in an old burial ground.
She talked to the owners of little stores and improved her German by having fun. She never got lost.
She went into churches, admired the historical half timbered buildings which were nicely renovated. People lived still in downtown and filled it with live. Older and younger people loved it here.
We loved the chocolate which is manufactured here in Schmalkalden. Elizabeth always walked to a store in Suhl which carried only these products.
When we stayed with my son in Suhl, we did not only drink beer. Our favorite pop was called "Thüringer Waldquell" and it came also from Schmalkalden. I wish we could get it in Canada, it is not so terrible sweet, especially their cola, and the diet fruit pop is delicious. Please try it and judge.
To survive as a smaller company you must have either a better product or must sell it for less money. I prefer the better quality!
