If you are coming from Suhl follow the sign to Ilmenau. After a few kilometers you will see advertising of the resort hotel at your left side.

Naturally we did not see the building so clear without using looking glasses. When I arrived there after a nice and short drive from Suhl on a winding road up the Thuringian forest I was not disappointed.
Lots of free parking directly around the hotel which is considered to be a resort, clean air and beautiful sights on the country.
My impression that this building was constructed before the reunification of Germany was soon confirmed. It was opened as a holiday home for farmers in 1979 who were allowed to stay here if they belonged to the right association.
Even after extensive renovations the interior of the hotel has still an old fashioned touch which created for me an interesting atmosphere. I liked it because it was so different and had its own character.

As you can see the "Ringberg Hotel" has a 3-star rating which ensured that you must not pay an arm and a leg. Everything was clean and new installed elevators provide easy access to all floors and facilities at least as far as I could see.
Obviously the hotel is not only preferred by individual visitors buy also by large organizations and companies for seminars and training courses. I saw this morning many cars parked with license plates from the German Bundeswehr.
Breakfast time was already over and it was still too early for lunch. For that reason I did not see too many people in the hotel. Most of the individual guests were enjoying the surrounding nature as I noticed later when I saw them walking.

This areal view gives you a good impression about the location of the "Ringberg Hotel" which I consider to be a resort because it offers so many amenities, such as a heated indoor pool, sauna, exercise equipment, free introduction course for Nordic Walking, and many events.
Maybe one day we pamper ourselves and take advantage of a special offer.
