Map of the Oberallgäu Region:
The "Oberallgäu Region" became Lizzy's cheese country because it was here she experienced first time how good cheese can be. This happened when we visited Ruth Treffeisen, a well known doll maker in Wiggensbach where we stayed overnight.
Fortunately, we had more suppliers in the "Allgäu" which allowed us to come frequently and visit numerous places. |

Sights like this turned Elizabeth to a mountain fanatic and I used every opportunity to find new places for her. We loved to dine in small cities in local restaurants, especially when we could sit outside on a patio or in a garden.

After our return to Canada we established our small business which was mostly operated by Elizabeth. We imported mostly good gift ware from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries.
I was still working as a consultant for the aerospace industry.
We only could effort to go on very short business trips to visit suppliers and to purchase goods.
Too bad that all of our pictures from this period were stolen together with my computer. Elizabeth's notes help me to update my Internet travel guide for Bavaria as well as Wikipedia and all the volunteers who help to keep this encyclopedia growing.

There is not too much left of this former castle. Obviously many stones were used somewhere else.

Fischen - many thanks to "Hajotthu" and Wikipedia
Fischen means also "fishing" in German. But fishing is not the main attraction. Many visitors come for hiking, biking or doing something for their health. Cross country skiing is very poplar during winter.
There is so much to discover in the Oberallgäu Region. Please do also you own research, we only could see a small part of it.

Bikers love it here too |

If you are interested in skiing and other winter activities, check out the "Oberallgäu". International competitions, ski lifts, cross country skiing trails and much more is waiting for you.
Hiking, biking, canoeing, mountain climbing are very popular in the other seasons in many places - not only in Fischen.
When I had my motor bike in Germany I joined the crowd who loved to come with that to the Allgäu for sightseeing tours. |
