Neustadt and der Waldnaab is best known for the glass crystal industry. Please be aware that this Neustadt is not the only one in this region - there is also a "Neustadt am Kulm".
Glass blowing industry is still alive in the Upper Palatinate and we took advantage of being in this town to visit one company and getting a little souvenir.
Our pictures got lost during a break in and I could not find suitable replacements at Wikipedia.
Please visit the tourist office in little Neustadt and der Waldnaab - they will help you with advise!

The town has a population of almost 6000. Luckily we found some free parking and walked around in the historic part after we had done a brief sightseeing tour by car.
We had lunch in a little restaurant. Elizabeth ordered a trout, I had a pork Schnitzel with "Pommes Frittes" (French fries). We learned during our meals that carp is also popular in this region. They come from local ponds.
We knew that you should only order carp in a month with an "r" in the name if you want to have a fresh one so Elizabeth ordered a "fat free" boiled trout instead a fried carp.
After lunch we visited the glass place.
After having been there we decided not to go to in any museum to see more glass. We preferred to explore instead the town and its surroundings.

If you want to learn more about the glass manufacturing please ask for companies which provide demonstrations.
Downtown in winter
Doesn't it look pretty? However, I prefer summer for sightseeing, window shopping and visiting places such as the town museum or the pilgrimage church "St. Felix". However, I am always ready to try the local food in one of the attractive looking restaurants.
I liked seeing their menus - posted outside of the business.
