Miesbach is another typical Bavarian village with an historical downtown.
Naturally, I had to walk again when Elizabeth decided to go on an exploration tour with lots of window shopping.
It took us quiet a while, because the display of every store had to be screened carefully.
We had discussions which item would make a nice gift for a friend in Canada but we also compared the prices with those in Canada.

When Elizabeth is on a shopping tour she forgets about lunch or dinner. The only thing to keep her going is coffee. I wanted at least a "Brotzeit" which is something which you can eat at any time. Normally. you have a beer with it.
After stopping at the "Stadtpfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt" which seems to be one of the major catholic churches in Miesbach I insisted on a health break. I told her that I was not on a pilgrimage or a fasting tour.
Luckily she gave in and we ended in a typical Bavarian restaurant. As you can see I had beer in a real stone and I thin Elizabeth had a so called &quuot;Radler" which is mixture of beer and lemonade. It is very refreshing and low on alcohol. Obviously it became popular at the end of the 19 th century when people traveled with the bicycles. I prefer real beer with my Bavarian meals.
After we had finished our leisurely meal we visited the market.

Every Thursday there was still a "Viehmarkt" (cattle auction).
Maybe you are lucky enough to be touring through Miesbach when this event takes place. It is certainly something which you will not see very often.
When we visited the above market, we did not see any cattle for sale but it was still an adventure because of the atmosphere around us.
Please order preferable a local dish when you are in Bavaria. Under local I include all European countries, such as Italy, Greece France etc. Have you ever tried a real Gyros? No comparison to that what you get In Canada. It is just easier to use the deep frozen stuff consisting of minced meat. Shame on all the Greek people who do this!
Be aware that even when you eat more than normal (what I did) all the walking which you have to do amy even cause a weight loss!

We never stayed over night when we toured Upper Bavaria. Everything was so close and we only did day trips.
If you find an accommodation which you love may be you stay there for longer to visit many of the attractions which are never far away. That reduces stress - especially in the high season - to find always a new place and you may get better rates. Relax and enjoy the outdoors - even for lunch or dinner or only a drink.
