Masserberg in Thuringia is formed by 5 communities: Fehrenbach, Heubach, Masserberg, Schnett and Einsiedel. The total population is approximately 3400.
When I visited the community in January 2004 the weather was so bad that none of all the offered outdoor activities was an attraction to me.
I understood that one of the planned events - dog sledding - was cancelled. I am not a skier and hiking alone in wet snow is also not one of my favorites. However, I know this can happen anywhere and blue sky would have changed this lovely area immediately in a favorite spot for cross country skiers, snow boarders and all other winter sport enthusiast. The Thuringian Forest is famous for that.
I decided to visit Masserberg again. At this time I will not forget to take my swim wear with me. I enjoy water sport and swimming and a major attraction of Masserberg is the so called "badehaus", a state of the art spa and health center.

Unfortunately, I forgot my swim wear. Thanks for the picture to the community of Masserberg

In June 2005 we came back to Masserberg and enjoyed this spa. It was one of the highlights during our trip and our tourist guide would not be complete without showing you this top of the line facility in detail. Please visit our special web site for the "badehaus masserberg".

To create an Internet tourist guide is pleasure but also hard work. Elizabeth could have spent many more days relaxing in all the different spas and enjoy all the offered treatments. We can't understand friends from Canada who visited Thuringia and did not take advantage of this life time experience. So far we could not find anything comparable in Ontario.

Accommodations are offered everywhere. We recommend that you always visit the local tourism office to get advice. I never was disappointed by doing so when I proceeded travelling through Thuringia after Elizabeth returned to Canada because of her work.
Normally, I preferred B & B, which you can recognize when you read the word "Pension".
