We lived very close to Landshut and took advantage of this for several visits. We even went for shopping there.
Don't ask me why we missed the main event called the "Landshuter Hochzeit" or the "Royal Wedding" of Landshut. Probably we tried to do too many things at the same time or we had other priorities, like work. But today I am convinced, it was not performed during our stay in Germany. The spectacle takes place every four years.
The next will be in 2013.
The "Royal Wedding" of Landshut is considered to be one of the largest historic festivals in Europe. It goes on for about three weeks.
The event goes back to the year 1475 when Duke George the Rich married Hedwig the daughter of a Polish king in Landshut. I read in Wikipedia that then thousands of people participated at this time in the celebration and consumed an enormous amount of food. It would be interesting to compare the historical figures with those of toady.

The parade - many thanks to "Alexander Z" and Wikipedia
Medieval times are brought back not only by the costumes but also by music which is performed by various artist. Don't worry if you don't understand the songs, neither do I. Many of them are in old German.
I believe videos are the best way to add some flavor to a web site. For that reason I have provided a few links to give you an impression of what we missed. Not only from the parade but also from many other performances related to the medieval time.
