Draft for proofreading

I am very glad that I could add the Thuringian region called the "Kyffhäuserkreis" to our Internet travel guide.
Too bad that Elizabeth my wife had already returned to Canada because of her work. She missed something! But hopefully, we can come back together.
"Kyffhäuser" is the name of a small mountain range. The historical "Kyffhäuser" monument is the main attraction in the so called "Naturpark Kyffhäuser".

The "Kyffhäuser" monument

The monument of Kaiser Barbarossa is one of the favorite motifs
Naturally, I visited this famous monument on top of a mountain. Please use the link to our special web site - especially when you have problems walking!
I believe that it takes easily a whole week just to explore only the main attractions of this region if you try to avoid stress by doing so.
We did not have unlimited time and for that reason I missed certain things. Hoepfully, we can come back to beautiful Thuringia and Elizabeth my wife must not return earlier to Canada. She was always a great help when walking was involved and she took great pictures. Very often we visited different attractions at the same time.

Barbarossaöhle
The "Barbarossaöhle" (a natural cave) near Rottleben

I liked to visit caves because they offered a cooler environment than walking in the sun. I took a leisurely guided tour through the "Barbarossahöhle" and a real adventurous one through a former mine close to Sondershausen. If you want to know what to expect visit our respective web sites.
The "Panorama Museum" dates back to the time when Thuringia was still part of the DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) and under the communist ruler ship. It is worth a visit, guided tours should also be available in English (depending of group size). It shows one of the furious battles of the so called "Bauernkrieg" (peasant's War) where the peasants upraised against the nobility, the clerics and all the others who demanded more and more money and cut the rights of these hard working people.

Do lots of sightseeing!
Visit in Sondershausen the castle and participate on a tour through a former potash mine. I warn you again this tour is a real adventure!
Less challenging is the "Barbarossahöhle".
Bad Frankenhausen is an excellent place to stay and to explore all these attractions. Bad Frankenhausen has also a spa where you can relax after you return exhausted after all that sightseeing. However, I never visited it and for that reason I can not provide any additional information. Bad Frankenhausen has similar to Pisa in Italy also a leaning tower. It is a chuch tower, but it is closed for the public.
I am sure that you will discover more spectacular places in the " Kyffhäuserkreis" how this region is officially called. Go to a tourist office. Please let us know about your experience and send us pictures.
Many thanks.
