I loved to visit Herrsching which is located at the Ammersee. A friend who had the most unique sail boat lived here. The boat was obviously very antique because it was made out of solid oak and we always had to shovel all the water out before we could take off.
Nevertheless, it was lots of fun and my first experience with sailing. I decided to own also a boat, but unfortunately, it never realized. So I am still waiting and hoping.
Elizabeth liked it here too, even without having a boat. As usually, I had to walk around with her. Why do Canadians so much walking? I never learned anything about this addiction here in Canada.
As you can see, wind surfer everywhere
After my Herrsching experience with her, I almost believe the statement that the board walk we strolled along is the longest one in Germany. I was tired, thirsty and hungry and so happy that we were not in a gastronomic disaster area and that Elizabeth allowed me to recover with a beer and a "Brotzeit" which was platter with cheese and cold cuts.

The "Wasserwacht" is a life guard. They are one of the few organizations or people allowed to use gas engine powered boats. They are nice people but unfortunately nobody made a TV series about them so far - at least I don't know any.
Spend some time in Herrsching and on the Ammersee. Visit the landmark, the church St. Martin and explore the surroundings. Very recommended is to hike from Herrsching to Andechs. We
never did that but I am sure Elizabeth will force me, if she reads that the path leads through a very exciting scenery with bridges, rocks a waterfall etc. and that the destination is a place where the famous Andechser beer is brewed by monks.
If you don't like to walk take it easy and go on a cruise on the Ammersee.
