Our pictures from Erfurt are a proof that it is an attractive city in every season. I think this applies for most of Thuringia.
If you are careful and open minded Thuringia ia also not more expensive than Canada. I paid for accommodation in B & B less than as in most places and was always very happy. Go in small restaurants where the local people go. Try the local food and order specials.
Rent a fuel efficient car - gas is highly taxed!
Remember all prices include the appliacble VAT (value added tax) and in restaurants also the tip is included in the posted prices. Hopwever, if you are happy withe the service be generous!

Naturally walking is the best way to explore the downtown of Erfurt. Because walking is not any longer a pleaure for me ee will try to use the tramway for more exploration of Erfurt and its surroundings, I am looking forward for this little adventure.
In London we could buy a time limiteed pass which allowed us to use all of the prublic transportation system for a reasonable price. Hopefully, Erfurt will do that too - I will ask them.

All over Europe buildings which date back hundreds of yeras are still used. Naturaly they needede renovations and most of them have all the required ammenities.
The "Speicherhäuser" (three-story warehouse buildings, see left image below) are only one of the many examples which you will find in Erfurt. These buildings date back to the 16th and 17th century and are still used for stores etc.

Erfurt is also a paradise for shopping monsters and people born to shop. Elizabeth did only lots of window shopping.
