Aichach is a small town of 20,000. Stop here for a good meal in one of the cozy restaurants. If you arrive on a Friday or Saturday morning browse through the market.
Aichach
Walk around in the medieval downtown. Take pictures of the mighty town gates and the baroque city hall.
Don't be shy and go into the "Stadtpfarrkirche"
and the "Spitalkirche" (churches). In the last one you will find a painting
from the 18 th. century which shows the donor of the "Spital" (hospital).

If you are interested in history:
Between 1180 and 1918 Bavaria
was ruled by the "Wittelsbacher". A monument and a church in Oberwittelsbach
(part of Aichach) a dedicated to them.
The castle "Wittelsbach" was completely destroyed. Archaeological findings are displayed in the "Wittelsbacher Museum" which is located in one of the town gates.
This museum displays mainly findings from
medieval times related to the "Wittelsbacher" and from the first settlements
in this region.
You can also learn something about the archaeological work and methods used to recover all these treasures.
Please ask for written information. I hope they are available in the English language.
According to my knowledge there is no entrance
fee to the museum |
