Lake Nipissing - a small tour on the lake

André looked different with his new grown beard and we became very fast aware how much he and his wife Susanne enjoyed living in Canada.
They have done again many improvements on their resort. I also thought that they had added some new boats.
For our tour André selected one with a 40 horse power engine. It was very comfortable for Elizabeth's parents and nobody was keen on a bumpy ride and we did not care about some other boaters who showed us how fast they can drive.
The birds and the fishermen were thankful for our moderate speed.
We also did not cause any damage to the shore line.
Elizabeth's parents were already over 80 years old when we took them to Rockview Camp. They enjoyed every minute up north.
No hectic, no rushing and a live style which they knew from the past. And animals and clean air which makes breathing easier for them.
When we approached an island André pointed out and eagles nest on a tree. I show this in the picture as "Adlernest". With my first digital camera I was not able to get a better shot.
We saw one eagle leaving the nest and waited for quite a while for his return - he did not come back, so we proceeded with our tour.
We learned that this island could be purchased for about $ 100 000. Naturally, Elizabeth was immediately interested and even her mom said that this would be nice. André explained further that it is common to lay an electrical power cable through the lake.
Luckily, Elizabeth did not follow up with her dream to live on an own island.

Suddenly we were in a river. I noticed this only after André told us. It was the South River. I believed we were cruising between an Island and the shore.
I will purchase a portable GPS system for my car and I hope it will also work on a lake, when we rent a small and simple equipped boat. I should also help to find our way back. It was so beautiful on the river and I want to do the tour again.
Not only the vegetation and the birds, the clear water in witch you could see the trees like in a mirror. I never had been on a trip like that.
I told André that I would love to go swimming in the river. He warned me that I may have an encounter with leeches who are just waiting for a victim like me.
Hidden by trees we could see cottages, but also houses.
Not all of them had a visible access to the river. Some had advertising "For rent". André, told us that some of them are owned by Germans who invested here.
André and Susanne are obviously not the only ones who prefer a simpler and easier life for less money in Ontario.
Once when we had breakfast back in Welland, we met retired people in a van decorated with a Canadian and a German flag. They told us that they were locking for place to retire in Ontario.
Could that be a new niche market? Canada needs entrepreneurs - even when they are already retired. They have often visions and experiences which local people do not have.
After we had passed the houses we were back in pure nature.
André pointed to a blue heron. Can you find him on the picture? He is on the right hand side. When he flew away, I was amazed about the size of this bird.
Today I would take a video of such an exciting tour. It was the highlight of the visit to the Rockview Camp. We talked very often about this new experience in Ontario.
We stayed here until the sun went down. Immediately it became cooler. We never experience the warm humid nights up north, which make it difficult to have a good refreshing sleep unless you have all windows closed and the air condition running.
We want to expand our trips to northern Ontario where we also ant to meet native people and learn about there culture and customs.
