Powwow in Fort Erie, Ontario - "Gathering at the Waters"
Travel Guide, Tourism
The powwow was planned to proceed until late night hours. I could not stay so long.
After the smoke dancing session started I became aware that this included a competition. The beat became faster and faster. The kids did not have any problem with that. However, the elderly ones with too many pounds between their ribs became obviously exhausted. I never could have kept up and admired them.
Only by walking around I became tired and my knees were hurting. I purchased a delicious strawberry lemonade and sat down.
Please visit a powwow to learn more about all the traditional dances
No signs of exhaustion at the drummers and singers.

The youngsters having fun
Many of the costumes looked very expensive to me. They were worn with pride. Please watch my amateur video to get an impression.
Especially the kids were very active smoke dancers. Even the smallest ones participated.

Once upon a time Fort Erie was host to many exciting events such as "Edinburgh 1745", the battle of the Jakobites against the English.
