Penetanguishene and surroundings - many thanks to MapArt
Penetanguishene is located close to Midland. On our last trip to the Georgian Bay area, we wanted to stay in Wasaga Beach. But we did not book any accommodation and so we were wandering around until a nice lady in Penetanguishene allowed us to put up our tent in her back yard. It was not B & B, but Tent & B.
We loved it in Penetanguishene. It was much quieter because the visitors were in our age and we did lots of sightseeing. I enjoyed also swimming in the lake. For Elizabeth my wife - the water was too cold.
This web site is a variant of our German site. I wanted to add more pictures from our trip, but they are gone with the computer which was stolen during a break in.
Von hier aus finden die Bootsrundfahrten statt
In Penetanguishene you can also book a cruise on a sail boat or you can board one of the larger boats which offer cruises to the 30 000 islands.
 The entrance to "Discovery Harbour"
Unfortunately we came on a holiday and the little theatre which you can see in the background of above picture did not offer any performances. Certainly the actors deserved also some time off.
"Discovery Harbour" is a reconstruction of a British harbour from the 19 th century. We were very excited about how everything was presented or demonstrated. Things from the daily life, old boats and interpretors in costumes.

The "Discovery Harbour" in Penetanguishene - we joined a guided tour...
...please do this too or you will miss many interesting details
We learned that the people of Penetanguishene bend backward to provide accommodation in case of an emergency. For lunch and dinner we went to a nice local restaurant.
