The "Town of Pelham" includes the communities Effingham, Fenwick, Fonthill, naturally Pelham and Ridgeville.
Especially Fonthill gained the reputation of a high place to live.
If you drive through this area you will soon be aware that it is very scenic. It is close to where we live and we love to go to the fruit stand and get farm fresh produce.
When you travel on Highway 20 you will see a beautiful golf course. Golfing is very popular in Canada.

If you come in fall check out for pumpkin festivals. Especially kids will have lots of fun. The following pictures were taken on a farm close to Fonthill.

Halloween is coming

Halloween is now also getting more popular in Europe.
It is a big business here and this is certainly the main reason to celebrate it in Europe too.
A shopping attraction in Fonthill is the "Log Cabin" directly located on Highway 20. Browse through the stores and relax after that in one of the local restaurants.
Did you know that we grow peanuts in Ontario? The area around Simcoe and Delhi is famous for that. You will find a retail outlet with Canadian products in Fonthill.

In Fonthill you have the opportunity to visit an outlet store of one producer of peanuts. You will not only find peanuts with or without salt. You will be surprised what they offer.
If you have to watch your weight and look for healthier food by some local fruits of the season at one of the fruit stands.
Certainly you can find nice accommodations in this area. Especially if you want something quiet and reasonably priced.

If you are in the Pelham area during March join one of the offered tours through the "Sugar Bush". At this time the sap is being harvested and many demonstrations are being offered. We enjoyed. Don't forget warm clothes - it may be cold! Please visit our web site to get an impression what to expect.

Pelham is surrounded by beautiful scenery. Please explore this area with a leisurely drive and stop occasionally. You will see not only nice houses, but also farms and a very old sugar maple tree which is said to be the oldest of Canada. It is called the "Comfort Maple". You will find it at Metler Road. Enlarge above Google Map to locate this road. Don't miss the sign - it is not easy to see!
