We always loved it to visit New York State. Not only for sightseeing but also for shopping and dining. We found a much better selection of stores and restaurant there. Now Canada is catching up. Amazing was the friendliness of the people. Unfortunately the travel between both countries went down. Who wants to wait for a not know time just to go to a show or for an afternoon. The Americans suffer in addition under the downfall of their currency which makes Canada much more expensive than before. But please, visit the USA when you come from overseas and have the right papers with you. There is also so much to see and to do and the Americans are still very friendly people. Many parking lots are provided on the section of the Niagara parkway between Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the- Lake. We recommend to use all of them, because you will find spectacular views and very often clean washrooms which is not everywhere normal in Ontario. The province should do something about that - we should not give the impression of a third world country!
Besides rides in a helicopter rides, a cable cat or with the ":People Mover", some kind of public transportation there are many more attraction on your way. A beautiful "Butterfly Conservatory", little museums, wineries where you can sample and purchase Ontario grown wine, and excellent restaurants and much more. Just have the will power to stop your car and inform yourself.
