There is no other direct road from St. Anthony to the eastern part of the island. We had to drive back many kilometers the same way we came. Our task was to visit the "Central Region".

Passing through Grand Falls Windsor we approached Twillingate. It was already evening and we found easily a very clean accommodation.
Bright sunshine greeted us in the morning and we decided to book a tour to the icebergs with the "Iceberg Man". I will create an English version of our special web site for that adventure. You will learn where not to sit in the boat. Elizabeth learned something.

We also visited a dinner theatre, The actors did the cooking, the serving and presented a never boring show - even when I could not always understand everything.
Luckily, I found the missing video which I took there and parts of it you find below. Use the link and watch it. It was my fist attempt and I improved in the meantime my skills slightly in making videos.
We were told that you had to bring your own booth which I did. The event was pretty stressful for me - eating the dinner, taking pictures, drinking the famous screech, watering it down with beer, talking to Elizabeth and making a video. But it was fun and I still listen in the car to the CD which we purchased after the performance. Did you know that Newfoundland has its own anthem? Just watch our video.

We learned that real Newfoundland wine is produced in Twillingate. Naturally not from grapes but from locally grown wild berries.
We purchased a few bottles for own consumption as gifts for good friends.

Unfortunately time and money were the reasons that we could not do everything what we had loved to do. So we could nor explore the famous "Terra Nova National Park".

On our way to the "Eastern Region" we visited a few more nice and interesting places such as Gander, Gambo, Glovertown and Eastport.
We were heading for Trinity.

We found a really nice and not expensive B & B in Dunfield. This helped us ta save some money. Our hosts treated us like family members and we learned many things about the life here from them.
People help each other buidling or renovating a home. Collecting cans - if there are any - on the side of roads and putting the money in an account for their grand children. Feeding us with home baked goods and jam. It was wonderful.
In a local restaurant we met a family who recommended a whale watching tour which departed in Trinity. Elizabeth treated me to this tour and we will never forget it.
Whenever I have time, I will create an English version of this exciting little adventure. We did not only see whales but also many icebergs and enjoyed the scenic cost with all the rocks and many birds.
Only my digital camera caused a few problems. I could not see anything on the monitor in the bright sun and the whales were faster than the camera when taking shots.

We also visited a little museum. We were the only visitors and Elizabeth could browse through everything. She loves antiques.
The elderly lady explained many details and we spend quiet a time there.
