After Lothar Meister and his wife Brigitte left Germany to move to Canada, their son took over the well established business. Her changed the name to "Meister's" and extended the Opening Hours.
In Germany it is very popular to sit outside and enjoy watching the scenery. You are also not exposed to second hand smoke. Smoking is unfortunately still allowed almost everywhere - even the "Green Party" did not do anything against it.
Not only pastries are served here but also gourmet food and matching beverages. There is no need to drink coffee when you ordered a steak.
In Germany it is normal to share a table with other people if a restaurant or a coffee shop is crowded. You may have to do the same when you visit Lothar's and Brigitte's the small place in Crystal Beach. Please be prepared!

Young Lothar with his Vespa in Germany
Very young Lothar participating in a local parade in Germany to promote the trade of bakers and pastry makers.
You should experience the mouthwatering smell of fresh baked bread, rolls or pretzels which come out of the bake shops when you stroll early in the morning through the cobble stone roads in old towns in Europe. Bread and rolls are prepared fresh every day and you can taste the difference to the industrial products.
Lothar Meister will try to offer "Laugenbretzen" - a typical German Pretzel. You can freeze them and heat them up in your stove before enjoying them. |
