Leamington and surroundings - many thanks to MapArt

Leamington:

Leamington is called the "Tomato Capital of Canada" because it is home of a large H. J. Heinz Company factory. Every third weekend in August a "Tomato Festival" is celebrated. I do not like raw tomatoes - only tomato soup and ketchup, but the festival offers much more and seems to be great fun.
Leamington has a population of approximately population of 31,000.
You should be aware that you are here at the attitude of Rome.
Because we never had enough time when we visited the "National Park Point Pelee" we were not able to explore Leamington. It is a long drive from Welland and we could not stay over night.
I asked the tourist organization for some pictures, but no help was provided. We hope that we can fill this gap later, because Leamington offers many interesting things, such as an "Arts Centre", a "Marine Heritage Museum" and certainly lots of sightseeing.
However, the main attractions are the "National Park Point Pelee" and "Pelee Island". Please visit our web site for Point Pelee.
If you love to dive - charter tours are offered. More than 50 drowned ships attract divers from many countries.

Plan a day for visiting this National Park - Tour the marsh

The park is really a world know attraction for nature lovers. Watch rare birds and discover plants which you may not see somewhere else.
Visit our web site to get an impression.
You will also find a beautiful clean sandy beach - don't forget your swim wear when the weather is nice.

Bring your swim wear!!

Guests from Germany wanted to explore the great lakes by boat. It was impossible to rent a suitable one. Obviously too much damage occurred.
So they did not come a rented a nice boat and spent week in the Mediterranean Sea.

This is "Pelee Island".

You only can reach it with a ferry. It is know for it's wine. One time, when we wanted to visit it we could not do that because of a strike and no ferries were on duty.
Hopefully, we have a chance again for a visit. Then we will prepare a web site about this trip.
