A map of the old tourist region Lakelands

I gave up my hope to get maps of the new tourist regions. These regions were created but no maps. How can a foreigner know the locations of them and get information which cities they can find here?
If you need more information go to any tourist center on Ontario and ask for them. They will gladly help you. Ask also for special promotions or coupons which help you to save money. You must not be ashamed to do that - even big companies are looking for cost saving measures and are asking for help.
If you are older ask for a seniors discount - you must not be necessarily over 65 years old to qualify!
Ask for cooperate rates in major hotels! You must ask, normally they will not offer them to you. Don't forget your business card. Also a membership in an automobile club may be granted.

A little bit of what you can expect in this region

An der Georgian Bay
Close to Midland

Book a pleasure trip on Lake Muskoka in Gravenhurst

This region offers very much to visitors who love outdoor activities, such as boating, fishing swimming, biking, hikings, skiing, rock climbing etc. Great sightseeing and history of this area are additional attractions.
It is a good mixture of almost everything. Relax on sandy beaches, participate in a cruise, learn how native people lived.
We will try to show you a little bit of everything.

Visit the "Discovery Harbour" in Penetanguishene

We have also visited "Sainte-Marie among the Hurons" a the reconstruction of an old missions station of French Jesuits. The Hurons or Wendat (also Quendat) which was their original name were befriended with the missionaries. The Iroquois did nor like that. We will add an English variant of our German site to this travel guide about our visit there.
In remembrance to all the missionaries who lost their lives after having been tortured the church "Martyr's Shrine" has been built.
We have visited this place and have created a German web site - just check the Internet for English information.

"Martyr's Shrine" in Midland

When you are already in beautiful Midland visit also the Huronia Museum and "Huron Quendat Village". You can see there how the Hurons lived. For us it was one of the unforgettable visits. Eventually we will create an English variant of our German web site to show you what to expect.
