Jordan and its surroundings are a very lovely part of the Niagara peninsula.
Nestled between vineyards and fruit gardens it is one of my favorite destinations when we have visitors and I want to show them our area.
The village has a relative long history and all the old houses are nicely renovated. Many of them have been converted into small galleries, stores and boutiques. I was especially attracted by one which sells sculptures and other art work created by the Inuit and Iroquois.

native art, collectibles
You found the right store if you are interested in great collectibles

Ninavik, native art, ein sehr empfehlenswertes Geschäft, wenn Sie an der Kunst der Ureinwohner interessiert sind

Ask about the artists

I was surprised when the owner showed me a brochure in German about some of his products.
Eventually you go wine tasting first. This may help to improve your spending mood when you go shopping after. You will be surprised that Canada offers a variety of good wines. I am not a real wine drinker but I was always interested to try different food and the gourmet restaurant always attracted me and eventually we will have a meal there during one of our next visits to Jordan.

Jordan has also a god wine restaurant

The area around Jordan was also settled by Mennonites. During the American revolution many left Pennsylvania and found here a new home. In 1801 they founded the first Mennonite church in Canada.
One house of these settlers has been moved to Jordan. Together with an old school it forms a small but very interesting museum which shows many details about the live style in the past.

This old school house is part of the museum

The class room

Plan at least two hours for the visit of the museum. You will learn how the settlers lived at the beginning of the 19 th century and how they tried to make some additional money by weaving or owning a wooden press for making apple cider for other farmers.

Our friendly guide was very knowledgeable

The surrounding of Jordan is also an attraction for hikers. You can also rent bicycles if you prefer biking instead of walking.
Check also the newer part of Jordan. I think it is a nice place to live.
Accommodation is also offered in this village. We always prefer such places. Jordan is part of the community of Lincoln.
