 Gravenhurst and surroundings - many thanks to MapArt Gravenhurst names itself the "Gateway to the Muskoka Lakes". I am still surprised about the names which cities assign to themselves. But Gravenhurst is a pretty little town in a great area. That is what counts for me. You should spend some time here or better stay here for a few days. There is much do discover and to do.  Join a round trip on the historic steamship Segwun
   Visit the "MUSKOKA BOAT & HERITAGE CENTREM". Explore downtown. Stop at the Bethune Memorial House. It is a little museum dedicated to the life of Henry Norman Bethune. Don't miss to learn about his life and his work. Bethune started as a surgeon and is well known for his achievements and his work in China for the communists during the war against Japan.
Surprisingly Gravenhurst has also a small opera house. I never heard that an opera was performed during the last few years. However, they offer many other performances including dinner theatre. Check their program! The sound system as well seating should be excellent. |
