Gravenhurst and surroundings - many thanks to MapArt
Gravenhurst names itself the "Gateway to the Muskoka Lakes". I am still surprised about the names which cities assign to themselves. But Gravenhurst is a pretty little town in a great area. That is what counts for me.
You should spend some time here or better stay here for a few days. There is much do discover and to do.
Join a round trip on the historic steamship Segwun
Don't miss to book a leisurely trip on one of the historic steam ships. It is certainly an unforgettable event.
Obviously there is a big demand for those cruises because there was just work going on to renovate another antique vessel.
Spend some time in the harbor. There are many things to see and to do.
Elizabeth's parents were with us. Elizabeth is my wife. Her dad enjoyed the sight and an ice cream during we strolled around.
Later we joined him. We loved it here and enjoyed the clean air.
Gravenhurst and its surroundings are certainly a perfect place for relaxing holidays.
A totem pole
Visit the "MUSKOKA BOAT & HERITAGE CENTRE". Explore downtown. Stop at the Bethune Memorial House. It is a little museum dedicated to the life of Henry Norman Bethune. Don't miss to learn about his life and his work. Bethune started as a surgeon and is well known for his achievements and his work in China for the communists during the war against Japan.
The foyer of the theater
Surprisingly Gravenhurst has also a small opera house. I never heard that an opera was performed during the last few years. However, they offer many other performances including dinner theater. Check their program!
The sound system as well seating should be excellent.
