Shopping in another country is always more adventurous that at home. An unknown language and unique items which you do not see at home add to the thrill. A different currency is another challenge. Thuringia offers all that.
Don't be fooled when you see advertsing which contains English words or which looks like English. Marketing "experts" and manufacturers are to blame for that nonsense.
Browse through the pedestrian zones which you will find in almost all cities and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. You do not see too many stores which belong to the large chains which offer everywhere the same. You will find interesting niche products and can very often deal directly with the owner of the business. Don't be afraid of the language barrier. It can be fun for both sides to try to understand each other. Carry a small dictionary with you.
