 Many thanks to MapArt for allowing us to use their maps Callander became relatively early a tourist attraction. The visitors came either by train or boat. Today you normally come by car because. We loved to stay in a cottage at our friends resort surrounded only by nature.  Beautiful sandy beaches are common at Lake Nipissing - here in Callander The beautiful and clean sandy beach was something which I did not expect. I was surprised that nobody was there at noon. In Europe you would have problems to find enough space to put down a large towel. We went later swimming at the resort where we stayed because we did not have our swim wear with us.  Unbelievable - clean warn water, sun shine and nobody is there! We did some necessary shopping, but decided to have lunch in Callander. We decided very fast for a nice restaurant direct on the main street with a nice view.
 The beach in winter Yes, we spend several times a few days at Lake Nipissing. In summer and in winter and we always stayed at the cottage resort which was operated by the friendly Swiss couple. It is not far away from here.
