Barrie has a population of approximately 130 000.
Barrie has some industry but tourism is becoming more and more important. Unfortunately, we ere never lucky to be in this town when one of the numerous events took place.
We loved the area around the harbour. We parked there and walked into the close by down town. We were impressed.
We learned that even winter sport is becoming popular.
As usual we did not have sufficient time to book one of the offered cruises.

Research the history of Barrie. Many years ago it was know for fur trading. It also payed an important part during the war of 1812.

On our way to downtown

I was surprised how good old and modern buildings can harmonize.
If you are hungry you certainly - we saw nice restaurants- but Elizabeth was as usual not hungry.
I think Barrie is a great place to stay.
This would allow you to visit in the evening the "Gryphon Theatre" which was recommended to us. It is a dinner theatre. I hope it is still there. when we come back.
The Molson Park is used for concerts and other events. Please ask about actual events when you plan to visit Barrie. We cannot provide this service.
Museums are another attraction. Especially when the weather turns bad. We always had a good time and found always something to do or we just relaxed.
