Watch Elizabeth touring the Western Brook Pond in Newfoundland - Tourism
Go to page
After Elizabeth was back she told me how much she had enjoyed everything and felt sorry that I had to stay back. Especially the boat tour was a highlight. The breathtaking scenery, the changing sky and all the information. The "Western Brook Pond" is the largest lake in the "Gros Morne National Park". It is 16 km long and has a maximal depth of 165 m. special measures have been taken to ensure that the water remains crystal clear.
She learned that two boats are used which had been approved for safety by the "Canadian Coast Guard" and confirmed also my information that helicopters had been used to transport them as parts to the pond.
The larger boat can carry up to 90 passengers.
A boat coming back
Elizabeth was not hiding in the cabin
The "Long Range Mountains" are a spectacular background of this "fjord".
To see more "fjord" you must be prepared for more hiking. Please get the required information including mandatory safety advises in one of the information centers. Don't risk your life!
The pictures can only animate you to come for a live experience. We do not want to replace an actual visit to the "Gros Morne National Park" with our website and our slideshow. Please check in addition the Internet. The government has prepared outstanding presentations. We do not have the resources they have and we never asked for any financial funding.
There was still some snow in the mountains
The pond is very narrow, just like a fjord
