Bruce Mines in the tourism region: "Sault Ste. Marie – Algoma"
By the mid-19th century, Bruce Mines was a boom town, a place that developed very quickly. This was due to abundant copper deposits.
Today, you can only find traces of these activities. Visit "Simpson Copper Mineshaft" a museum and let yourself be traced back to the past.
The facility is open daily only in July and August. In the remaining time only after previous registration.
We had been invited to Bruce Mines. We had created an internet presentation for the German owner of the "Three Oak Tourist Resort" at Gordon Lake and were told that we could spend one week there for free.
Unfortunately, my wife's health problems started at that time and the risk was too high. Today the resort is offered for sale. It certainly became too much work for Dieter & Renate Heller.
Dieter has told me much about the beauty of this area, the activities we could do and supported that with pictures that we are still in love with this area.

Bruce Mines is pretty small. It has a little less than 600 inhabitants but an impressive natural environment. It is located on the St. Joseph Channel of the Georgian Bay.
I am confident that we will find a similar place which we can use to relax and improve our Germ nab and English travel guides by adding more flavor. That will include small events, the museum described above and hopefully also own videos.

One of the recommended trails in Bruce Mines
The resort on Gordon Lake which we never visited.

You see, nature can be really breathtaking here. If you come in autumn, the deciduous forests unfold their full blaze of color, which always attracts us again and again.
As already mentioned, and as the name implies, Bruce Mines has a past related to the mining of ores. In this case not gold, iron ore or uranium but copper. The remnants of this industry can still be visited today. Even specialists from England came here.
Learn more about the history and working conditions at this time. It is really interesting to know more about it. We always enjoyed doing things like that.
Visit the McKay Island Lighthouse. It has been modernized and you can even rent it. You can drive there by car. Use the Internet for more information.
